So I recently picked up an H22a transmission that came free with my H22a head and block. The problem is that the reverse on the transmission doesn't work. I decided I would tackle this problem myself. I opened up the case and I found the bracket that moves the reverse idler gear to be loose. The bolt holes have been wallowed out.
I think this is why the transmission won't shift into reverse. Do you think I could drill and tap deeper holes so I can bolt it back?? How else can I fix this??
Here's a picture I found online of what I'm talking about.
The bracket where the end looks like a wrench is loose at the bolts.
Thanks!
