Dash Seats, Steering Wheels etc... If it's inside your Civic then it's in here.

#88237 Since this is strictly my daily driver, I figured it might be nice to have it a bit quieter inside the car. A friend and I installed this sound deadener a couple nights ago. Nothing big but it is the first thing I have done to this car and the first time the interior has ever been removed. Unfortunately I forgot to post pics of the entire area but it has insulation from the rear wheel wells all the way up to the fire wall now.

Oh, I snatched these off of a Chrysler Pacifica to replace the cheesy stock civic horns. I'm saving this little project for next weekend though. They are considerably louder and have a deeper tone than the stock ones.

#88241 how much did you end up spending in all for the sheets? and how much difference did it make to your car when you drive? and did you get it to lessen the noise from the cars outside and/ noise or did you get it for better sound for your system?

It made a huge difference in the level of noise in the car, especially on the freeway. I bought the sheets when I worked at Sport Compact Only a few years ago so I only paid ten dollars for everything. I installed it specifically to lessen the road noise since I don't really plan on installing a system or anything. I installed some MBQuart components in the front and some Illusion Audio components in the rear but that was mostly just to replace the blown oem speakers.

thanks for the info, as i too was looking into this but the sheets are $25 and they're alright in size but for the price i'm not sure how many i needed and if it was going to make much of a difference. You clarified alot of questions i had, thanks again.

#88255 If it helps at all, I used about 1 1/2 rolls of this stuff and did everything except the doors (material was too thick for doors) and under the back seat, since the seat itself dampens a lot of the road noise.

#88336 i never saw that type of stuff, what I have always used is dynamat , I did my entire car from trunk to firewall as well, yeah it added like 50 ibs to my car but its worth the extra quiet.

#88452 I also did my whole car, but I went hardcore. I used dynomat extreme on the entire car! Floor from firewall to trunk, the trunk lid, the doors, the insides of the doors, the headliner, even the backs of the door panels! But wait there's more. I then went under the car and coated the wheel wells in the 3m rubberized undercoating and sound deadner. On the floor I also put the dynomat sound deadner foam. And finally on top of that I bought new carpet from ACC and had the Mass backing added to it. [smilie=director.gif] My ride is quiet as fuck, it weighs about 100lbs more but to me it is so worth it. The doors make a nice crunch when you close them instead of that empty metal sound, and my car is quieter than a Lexus on the inside.

I am not sure because I did all the work by myself so it took a long time to do all of it, so it was in many stages. I think all together it is safe to say I spent around 500 total. (I doulble layered the trunk and wheel wells so i would not hear the exhaust. That price is not including the carpet. Expensive, but it was spread over a long time period of me installing so it did not seem so bad.

#88466 Now that I've done the rest of the car I realize how much noise comes in through the doors. I have a couple other things to take care of first, but I'm probably going to dynamat the doors by the end of February...might look into that 3M stuff for the front wheel wells too.

I did this to mine as well. I also used extremeliner on the floors also.

I started to notice that on windy days or when I am on the interstate, I can hear wind coming from my doors I think. So I am going to investigate that noise and try to eliminate that as well. I want that shit to sound like a sound booth. lol
