sorry if this is in the wrong Forum, please move if so..
When i bought the car the fuel gauge needle was busted, so im wondering, since i have a new needle, when our cars are off, does the needle rest on empty, or does it rest on how much fuel you currently have?

mine stays put even when the car is off the only timeit moves is when the electricity /key is on tho what i would do is take apart your cluster and stuff but plug it in whilstyou drive pull in to a gas station fill it up completely and turn it on wait id say about 3 mins give or take depending on how low your tank was then bada bing pop your cluster out and go at it (of coarseid pull off into a parking spotso you dont get yelled at forsitting there but thats just my idea

Thats what i did. and ive been driving for three days and it hasnt moved. but if i pull the needle off and put it on the bottom, when i turn the key it will rise to half a tank. i dunno. lol its got me confused, i guess i need a cluster lol. that sucks cuz im broke haha

The needle will eventually fall to "E" if the car is left sitting long enough, When the car is turned to "ON" the fuel gauge will then rise to the the fuel level.
Atleast that is how the Stock DX Cluster i have in my Sedan is. However its sits for 2-3days before I get a chance to play with it agian,

so i had a thought, if i ground out the sending unit wire. it should swing it right around to empty.. Correct?

Negative on my post above. The sending unit sends a Ground signal to the gauge. so grounding it out, makes the pump rise. cutting the wire, right behind the cluster *pin b1* in the 13pin connector, or, the yellow/white wire, will make the gauge drop. let it drop with the needle on. when it gets to empty, remove the needle and put it half a tank, it will stop on its own, in any position, when its at the *empty mark* now remove the needle, set it back in place, dead on empty. the solder and heatshrink the yellow/white wire back together and your in business.
No, i did not find a write up for this. this is my own write up.
