I love my B16 Ek, However I totally understand about 5th gear freeway cruising. I love taking the car through Mountain roads, However doing 70-75 @4k in 5th is pretty lame.

Good luck on your b16 build. Will it be staying a B16 or do you plan on making an lsvtec when you convert to boost land?

Will you be cleaning/painting other parts of the engine before it goes in? The Intake Manifold turned out really good, Hopefully the rest would as well.

lol, the y7 swap is funny because im putting in a way slower engine, yet im happy as shit its going in. the y21 makes me not speed


the b16 will most likely get a rod/piston block gaurd setup on the block(havent even considered brands, too early), and the head im leaning more on ITR springs and retainers with some valves (brand?) and some turbo cams, as well as a crome chipped p30. for the turbo setup, i have a turbonetics (dont know the exact kind cause i got it for the lowlow) off an integra Gsr that had it, a treadstone cast iron manifold, turbonetics evolution wastegate, treadstone intercooler, and all piping as well as a downpipe.
I need to buy a good BOV to replace the knock-off i have, and some injectors( i have RC 270cc injectors, which may be too small for the build)
I have a type r replica IM to go on, and i need to get a nice throttle body if the b16 one will go.
Also considering a nice port and polish to increase flow.
They'res still alot of stuff i need to figyaz out, but this build will take a while, so im in no big hurry at all.


All the parts going on the y7 will be cleaned and painted to make everything look ohh soo minty fresh

this build is going to take a while, so none of it is set in stone other than the turbo setup.

Worked on the d16 a little today. Put on my OBD1 dizzy, put on a newer valve cover, and painted my heat shield black

Just finished my D16y7 swap and it runs awesome!

No longer at 3500Rpm at 65 anymore with the B16.

Im just below 2500 with my EX tranny
Hello highway cruising


Im probably gonna hate it in a month or so cause its SOOOO damn slow, even compared to the stock B16, which isnt THAT fast, its quick.



So, heres the complete build of the motor im running now.



D16y7 block and head 82k miles
D16z6 intake manifold
D16z6 Throttle body
D16z6 water tube in the back, it has an extra port i needed
D16z6 Si/EX trans
D16b7 Distributor




I'll get some pictorz of the swap a little later on

I can only imagine going from a B16 to a D16y7, It is going to be so slow. It will be awesome for cruising like you said, However it is slow.

I miss my vtec when I get into my '01 Integra LS Auto. Especally in 4th(top) Gear. I was going to pass someone and was surprised how slow it was passing people at freway speeds.

Atleast I can just get into my Civic and have my B16, It will be a bit harder for you to get your fast back.

If you ever want some speed back, Give that Fresh D16z6 some Nitrous Lovin. my 26X,XXX D16z6 was on nitrous forever,

it'd probably be cool to shoot on this motor, if i came across a used kit, for realitively cheap, i'd definitely spray this SOHC till it went fast.
I mean, i didnt pay shit for it, and its fresh.


i think im gonna put the stem seals in the b16 and attempt (again) to get it swapped into my DB2, that would be sweet
