Image

started on drivers side but had a problem -
snapage!!
Image

as you can see it snapped just above the joint when i was undoing the joinning connector things-
will be going to wilcos tommorrow to get some more brand new brake lines and a brake line tool (to flare the ends)

another quick pic of the old crappy brake line of the car -

Image
so after tommorrow my car will have Goodridge braided hoses and brand new copper brake lines :thumb: [/img]

#55671 How much did they set you back? Mine are rusted.
By spinksy
#55676 the braided hoses were about £40 off a shop on ebay.

upgrading from the normal crappy rubber hoses to braided hoses helps and improves brakeing loads! :)

#55725 well went out this morning an bought these-

brake flaring kit and new copper brake lines (and some male adaptors)

first end of new front brake line flared-

so thats that done (will be doing rears tommorrow/next weekend)

and a quick engine bay shot-
Image

went for a quick drive and brakes are fine - although car is running bad. missfiring through the rev range and when vtecs about to kick in she missfires and backfires badly!!! :?

#55730 its a special tool that you pull into the spark plug hole. when its in there you crank the car over 4 or 5 times then the tool reads what PSI is in each cylinder.

for B-series engines i think its about 180 to 210 psi per cylinder.
By spinksy
#55731 right ok-

any idea where i can get one of the tools?

bloody hope its not that tbh - no job, no money an maybe no car

the car seems to start weird, as in not very well. once its ticking over its fine on idle, then when yo get going its not too good! its mainly the vtec thing thats worrying me.....

was going to try new plugs and leads but you got me worried now

#55746 lol. sorry dude, do the plugs and leads first... see how that goes. have you checked the dizzy cap?

you'll be able to get one of them tools at any motor factors for about a 10'er.

also, have you check for fault codes?

#55758 ill be getting new plugs and leads in the next couple of days.

how do you do the paper clip thing? you just join the 2 green plugs under the dash (passenger side)

there should be 2 plugs coming off your ecu... 1 has about 6 connectors and 1 has just 2 connectors.

you want to bridge the plug with 2 connectors.

#55852 well some GOOD NEWS - the missfire issue is sorted!

went to wilco again this morning and got 4 new NGK spark pugs and some new ignition leads. put them all on and hey presto shes running loads better!
was quite funny actually - i put all the bits on the car down this quiet road near my house - then put my foot down in 1st to see if vtec engaged properly -an it did - an it actually made me jump lol i was like fuck, that felt quick :woot:

(will be replacing the leads with magnecore ones when i got some money though as the leads i got this morning are cheapos - i think ive actually seen chow mein noodles thicker  lol, but they work which is the main thing)
