Turbo and Supercharger discussion

#20023 I'm debating running water lines to my turbo, it already has hose fittings on it.
So obviously the advantage is the turbo running cooler, but I read that usually people don't bother with water lines and just let the car idle for a few mins after driving to avoid coking the turbo w/ burnt oil.

How much of a difference can water lines add to the life of a turbo, and will adding water lines greatly reduce the idle time to cool down the turbo after driving?

#20026 i would do it just to run the turbo cooler i don't know exactly how much of a difference it would make but yeah... when i did the turbo set up on my car i just ran it from the radiator where the auto tranny was suppose to hook up too

#20031 you're supposed to turbo time no matter what weather it be oil cooled or oil and coolant cooled. but coolant does allow the turbo run quite a bunch cooler. if ur gona be running a good amount of boost id go with coolant and oil cooled. im not using coolant just cause im only running 6psi and it doesnt reach extreme temps. just watch the air/intake temps. i think anywhere above 155 is when its reccommended to run coolant.

#20105 x2 i'm not sure how much of a differance there will be, but if i were you and my turbo had waterlines on it, run them, its simple...buy this, http://tunertoys.zoovy.com/product/WPAD and your waterlines and fittings and your done, with the peace of mind that you turbo may last a while longer if you beat on it!

water lines!

I have that kit already :thumb: For the water line, I was planning on tapping into the back of the block where the coolant line goes to the throttle body & IACV. Thinking of bypasing both of those (since the car won't be driven in cold weather) and using the inlet/outlet on the main waterpipe for the turbo.

#20128 ... thats funny, i was looking at a friends setup this weekend and i was thinking the same thing but never thought to ask him...i don't think it would matter, just as long as it is going from an "in" and "out", so it will flow through! i guess.
