#258374 It's not impossible, not common, and(IMO) not recommended to boost an automatic Civic. but you would be depriving yourself of alot of potential aswell as alot of fun by keeping the car automatic.

#258376 Its doable, i wouldnt recommend it, as stated above, it will kill potential, and will lessen the fun too be had with the car. BUT too each their own.

Now the next question. 5lbs on a stock motor. Yes it is possible, and the motor will handle it, but it all comes down too one thing, TUNING, without just forget about boosting, because you'll tear your shit up.

#258641 Okay so when it comes to tuning do i get my virgin p28 tuned or do i buy a chipped p28 , and also i have the money for a garret turbo kit but my friend suggested just buying a cheaper ebay turbo kit since running 5 psi isn't that drastic and just use all my stock internals would you recommend this?

#258663 the $6-700 ebay kits are completely JUNK.

If i had to do it again, i would start with the $1700 treadstone kit.. http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/product.phtml?p=23&cat_key=687&prodname=Honda+Civic+SI%2C+B%2C+D%2C+CRX+Series+Turbo+Kit

#258666 If you are balling on a budget, Source parts from Junkyard cars. There are qute a few turbo cars in junkyards you can source parts from. Turbod16.com and homemadeturbo.com has good advice on going this route.

If you have the money getting a quality turbo kit is the better route to go. As stated above the 600-700 Turbo kits off ebay are not good quality and will cause many headaches.

You can boost an automatic. I have seen a few turbo Integra LS Automatics and they are pretty peppy. One benefit of being an automatic is you dont have to dump your boost when you shift gears.

Given that D Series automatics are slugs, Turboing one wouldn't be a bad idea IMO. However to do so correctly wont be cheap. You also want to get a FULL TUNE done on your ecu when done. Go to a reputable shop locally and have them dyno tune your car. Dont just get a 'Basemap" Installed. The Base maps are just the start of where to tune from. Running on a base map on a turbo car is only asking for trouble.

d15 bottom ends are good until you pass the 200hp(crank, not wheel) limit, after a stock bottom end wont be reliable. It dones't matter how much psi you have. If you get a huge turbo at 7psi, vs a small turbo at 10psi. The huge turbo will push more air.

Last but not least, Do lots of research before deciding to go this route. although its not a bad route to go. If i had a D Series auto, it would be boosted.

Boosted automatics may not necessarily be the quickest when compared to a manual trans with the same setup but it's def still fun.

Start looking around @ tranny coolers :thumb:
