#265581 what`s up fellows, im planning to boost my d16a9 obd1, i`ve been reading and reserching for a few months(teal_dx DIY Turbo is like the more useful writeup i`ve read http://civic-eg.com/viewtopic.php?t=11082 ), I want to make +- 200 whp stock internals, +- 8psi with a good tune to be safe (have heard of d16a9 running 10 psi 220 whp stock internals for over 5 years).

maybe its important to say that my vacuum gauge reads 17 inHg on warm idle, also i did a compression test and the 4 cylinders are 170 psi.

* the engine burns 1/4 oil each 5000 km(when dragging on weekends :D )

my question:

is this engine healthy enough to start this project without a refresh ?
or what else should i check ?

another thing, just changed all the hoses with clear ones, in this one when reving the engine i can see oil splashing upwards to the intake manifold, is that normal?

#265720 It is called blow-by and is normal for motors to have. A catch can can be used inline to 'catch' the oil and only let the air into the intake. It is a very good idea to use a catch can on a boosted car where oil coming in your combustion chamber with the air and gas can cause problems with detonation.
On a turbo motor, timing, air/fuel ratio, spark etc all become more crucial when you're forcing lots of air into the combustion chamber. That leads to your first question... a turbo build is only as good as the tune so find a good tuner and see what they can do for you. :thumb:
