I've replied to a thread in the 'D series' section which is very similar to what I'm about to ask.
My D16z6 has been rebuilt, ACL bearings, rings etc. The only items which were not replaced were the pistons and the crank. I'm debating whether to go boost now, even though I've now rebuilt my engine to turbo.
My reasons why I'm having doubts are the possible factors
of something to go wrong once turbo'd. I know tuning is the key to get things fast and stable. I'm looking for around 200whp as I still think that's nice and fast but could I keep that at a stable rate? I've never owned a turbo'd car and all I want is for it to be stable.
I don't want to have the doubt in my mind that if I put my foot down, something will go wrong. I don't want to spend a lot of money to get it all right, all the essential parts and get the tuning done down to a 'T', only for it to go bang at a later date. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to be thrashing it everywhere.
So my question really is, can I turbo my d16 to be fairly fast, slightly faster than say a DC5 K20, and remain nice and stable whilst cruising & throttling.
Thanks
