Sorry i have to say it but research...lots of it, there is some good info in the boost section...or turbod16.com!

ive been researching for a year now and im still not ready to have a turbo...

lets start with your intensions for the car...
daily driver, auto-x, 1/4 mile drag? and how much do you want to spend?

for a stock motor, a new headgasket + ARP headstuds is a good start in prepping the motor as well as regular maintenance like.. Timing belt, PS belt, Waterpump, AC belt, Alt Belt (if you have all these)
Then I wouldn't try and make more than 230whp on a stock motor as thats like the threshold of a stock daily driver.

if your low milage boost it and if it popps oh well d series are a dime a dozen. if you blow it swap a z6 or a y7 in. and boost it then have fun
