Ok so my Best buddy recently got a Greddy turbo kit set up on his 2002 RSX-S with 58k miles on it.

Car was running stong as shit before one of the fastest k20a2 stock aside from having an RBC manifold.. in the DC5 Chassis out here. Ok so here is the scenerio

Got the entire greddy kit. with front mount intercooler. 775cc FIC injectors. stock bottom end stock head and internals. now the greddy kit is said to be great for the stock K20. that's what it was made for running at what is it 6-7psi all the way to red line. good for about 300whp safely..

So we go to get it tuned. the car at first . it got introduced to 15psi twice in 2 pulls the issued being the Boost by gear PWM was wired wrong so the vaccumm lines were ran backwards. so fixed that right there.. fixed it now it was set to 7psi . tuned made 250whp. bump it to 9psi it made 272whp. top it to 12psi it held the 12psi to about 6k rpm then gradually up to 8600rpm started to go down to 6psi at redline. making 295whp, 230tq.

the tune was perfect nothiong looked bad at all. the AFR was basically a straight line like as if someone drew it on there with a ruler.. so everyhting is good car sounding healthy so we leave. i tell you not even 6 miles drive fromt eh tuner.. did 2 highway pulls car sounds beast.. 3rd pull at about 6k rpm car start to boost cut, slows down and POOF. nice puff of white smoke . shu tht ecar down immidiately and coast tot he break down lane.. look under the hood oil everywhere. get it towed tot he tuner's shop. we look under . there is a nice hole on the block above the oil filter at piston #1 look inside with a scope and see thAt the rod snapped right under the piston pin. piston looking ok..

My question is if the tune was immaculate, and every was ok on the dyno what the hell would cause the to happen? still trying to figure this out.. we were under the 300whp mark . Would timing within the tune be the factor. car was babied it's hole life oil changes 2500 miles and what not. before the tune and turbo starrtup it was oiled with Mobil 1 Synthetic.. im telling you 3 weeks before the turbo car ran strong in NA form with no issues everrrr. new colder plugs were installed too with the turbo set up..

Just wondering what the hell happened here.

Anyone familiar with this at all.

Let me know ideas or possibilities..

:D

maybe the tuner overlooked something. maybe there was a hidden problem with the engine thats unnoticed, even though u said there was no problem what so ever, but adding a turbo amplified the hidden problem of ur engine and then boom.
