So i have a few questions ehre i would like to ask so i don't sound like a new noob
1. What should i be looking for when it comes to adding a turbo kit ?\
2. i was told by andys auto sport and a few guys if im going to be adding 8 pob(pounds of boost).. in my car i can run off of stock injectors and fuel pump ?.
3. i have a 1994 honda civic sedan it has a 1.6 v-tec 5 speed in it hydrolic clutch so if that helps i wantt o find a spec sheet for this so i can do this the right way im going to be speding the winter researching and doing other things of that then spring time im going to finish building the car.
4. can someone help me figure everything out the right way if i run into some issues and cant figure it out my self ?..

it might be easier just to piece together a kit.
that kit requires you to make a custom down pipe. and buy oil line kit for your turbo to the oil pan.

and plus that kit isnt all that up to par. you'll probably end up replaceing the turbo mani


anyways. you could run on all the stock stuff for the time being. but id up the injectors dont buy anything you'll have to buy a resistor box IMHO THats just wasting money and cutting wires that done need to be cut. spend the cash

you'll also need to get an engine management like S300 with boost.

i seen locals around here make like 280 on stock internals with management and injectors on a d16z6

set your goals before doing anything and if money is tight thats just going to make the goals a little tough but with the right goals you'll be able to get something in mind as far as power goes. (Realistically)

if you can ask your local shop (That is known for good work atleast) they should be more than willing to help someone out as far as questions and stuff goes.

don't waste your time with that kit.. the downpipe will need cut and re-welded to fit as well as having to grind down the flange to be flat. the intercooler piping and couplers are thin/junk/won't "bolt-on". the turbo is a gamble, wastegate is complete garbage, BOV would probably work fine but also a gamble.

If i had to do it over again, I would start with one of the Go-Autoworks.com kits. it will actually bolt-on, fit right and the quality between the two is no comparison. only leaves a few needed components like injectors and fuel pump which you'll definitely want to get

I agree with previous posts. Don't waste your time with an ebay turbo kit if you want reliability. Expect to spend twice that amount for quality parts and that's if you shop around and piece the kit together yourself, which will require extensive research.

Also don't gauge by pounds of boost, that varies from turbo to turbo. go by WHP. how much power do you want at the wheels? Use that # to figure out what turbo suites your goal. Then if you want a kit, get one using name brand parts including a name brand turbo.
ebay turbos are a hit or miss, if you try it, definitely get it re-balanced by a shop.

and again, the psi is completely irrelevant. its all about how much power you wanna make.

Since you already have the kit, then just be sure to have the turbo re-balanced. Check around with local engine builders / machine shops to find someone who can do it. One of the reasons ebay turbos fail soon is because they are poorly balanced in china.

Also I would have went with a name brand 255 LPH fuel pump like Walbro. Fuel is important - you don't want to skimp on your fuel & engine management system.

The oil feed line kit looks nice. Just check for any burrs in the threads.

I have a $100 ebay cast manifold on my turbo setup and it has been fine other than 3 of the bolts/studs backing out that hold on the turbo. Cheap chinese hardware... use some quality bolts & lock washers. Replace the paper gaskets with OEM or quality ones where possible.

Intercooler, piping, T-clamps, catch can all look good.

The walbro in your link is a good pump. It will be able to deliver when you decide to turn up the boost (and you will eventually)

for fuel management, use a P28 ecu chipped with tuning software. Software chices are Hondata, eCtune, CROME, Neptune... There's a lot out there. Best thing is to talk to the tuner who will be tuning your car and see what software they are comfortable using. Hondata S300 is probably most common among tuners and one of the most friendly to use but it's $599. CROME basic is free but I know tuners who won't touch it because the software kid of sucks.

Stay away from old school FMU's. They are cheap but they are old technology and not reliable. Also stay away from VAFC's and SAFC's - also older technology, better than a FMU but still not as reliable as a chipped ECU and proper tuning.

I think I paid $50 to get a turbo balanced.
THere's a write-up or two in the DIY list for installing Resistor box when running the DSM 450cc's.

Your stock fuel lines will be fine for your setup.

get both
the fuel press reg. will be useful in adjusting fuel pressure. Get a fuel gauge as well.

The ecu is also a must, it is the brain of your entire setup.
Sorry I don't have much time for phone support, it sounds like you have not done much research on turbo setups before putting one together. Unfortunately there is an enormous amount of info to learn before building and installing a turbo setup.

sweet thats really nice im excited to be reading and yes i saw both your threads teal and they are both really nice just one thing im not sure of is the relay box and bosst gauge wiring

what relay box are you talking about?

i would stay away from resistor boxes and injectors that need them..

my reasoning when i was looking for injectors and it didnt click until one of the guys at the shop told me. running a resistor box and injectors that need them have a great chance on frying your ecu. with that in mind i spent 650 for my S300 and 68mm throttle body. thats 600 bucks i dont wanna spend again. lol


you could run on a chipped ecu. if you local shop can do it. they can burn you a map on a chip and put it in your ecu for you. if you go that route i suggest getting a socketable ecu that way you can just pull it out and put a different chip on there if desired.


and id advise a tune also. see what your local shops can tune s200 is nice but if the shop cant tune it because they done have the equipment for that but for S300 might as well spend the money on that since it would be less of a headache for you to find someone to tune it.

are you planning on running tons of boost?

you can run with that kit. but like the others say some of the quality is not up to par and you'll need to mod it a little here and there. i would just go ahead and sell that down pipe and order that flange that fits the turbo and get a custom down pipe.

you dont need to buy all this stuff to replace the stuff brand new you can buy it used as long as you know it is in working condition.

you'll save some cash in the end.

when the manifold cracks and falls apart i would upgrade to something like rev manifold or even and greddy or hks manifold if you can find them and you can usually find the D series manifolds for under 300 bucks which is decent.

spa manifolds. look really nice and i have heard decent things about them
