#284003 ssoo i have been wondering..i want to boost my LS B18B1 motor and im looking to get any where from 350 to 400 whp....i plan on getting forged pistons and rods..and possibly forged crank shaft(depending on if i need to replace the one i have or not)....i have asked around from ppl to see if i should just bore it out from 81mm to 81.5mm ooorr sleeve the block?? i know that JUICE (member of the site) is running about 300 whp or something close to that range if i remember correctly on a stock B18B1...so i dont see the need for sleeving the block...any suggestions or inputs will be GREATLY appreciated :thumb:

also is my goal for whp unrealistic with my plans?? or can i easily accomplish what im looking for??

#284004 I'm actually running my JDM B18b now @ 285whp :D

the b1 was @ 240whp and started getting excess blow-by likely from a blown ring land. she had done well though.. bone stock 150K+ miles, swapped and beat to hell since 2001, hundreds of NA drag strip passes, over 100 passes boosted.. can't complain

now hopefully the JDM motor will run long enough for me to re-build the b1. gonna do forged rods/pistons. gonna let the machine shop determine whether i do 81 or 81.5. have it all balanced, ARP head studs, bigger injectors, then shoot for high 300's. oem crank will be fine, might just need polished and stock sleeves with a good tune should be just fine for that power goal :thumb:

so yea.. DO IT UP MAN!!

#284033 cool..im glad the stock sleeves will be ok..cuz other wise i would have to spend a hell of alot more money than wanted..haha thanks for the info man :thumb: :thumb:

any inputs on a what kind of turbo to get for what im looking for? im still learning about turbo motors here..i can use all the help i can get :D

#284257 I'd go with at least the "tuner" kit or maybe the "race" if you want an even better looking manifold..

The GO-AUTOWORKS Tuner Turbo System is our next system offered for those that are looking for a great kit, that has good power potential at an affordable price. Great for stock block and mild builds! The system is capable or 250-450hp and easily upgradeable! The Tuner system uses the same great quality brands as our higher end systems, so quality, performance, and longevity is not sacrificed at all. It is also a step up from the Street System in turbocharger size and moves to one of our stainless tubular log manifolds along with a larger turbocharger selection.

System Contents:

- GO-AUTOWORKS Stainless Log Manifold

- GO-AUTOWORKS SS 2.5" downpipe

- GO-AUTOWORKS dumptube

- Garrett Turbocharger

- Tial 38mm silver wastegate

- Tial 50mm silver blow off valve

- GO-AUTOWORKS Pro oiling kit

- GO-AUTOWORKS Race charge pipe kit

- GO-AUTOWORKS bar & plate intercooler

- (6) high quality silicone reinforced couplers

- (12) stainless T bolt clamps

for the price, these are the best fitting/quality kits out there. you'll spend as much or more in the long run going with a cheaper kit from the start.. so why not just bolt this one on!

you'll still need these to complete the setup..

-injectors, i'd go 550cc+ i maxed my 440's @ 310whp
-walbro 255
-MAP sensor. Hondata 4 bars are $100 and plug right in
-catch can setup
-ECU chipped
-oil pan tapped or buy a Moroso
-boost controller of some sort
-vacuum block (optional but nice to have)

and i'm sure other little small stuff will arise when actually installing but that should about do it

#284260 There was an article in HondaTuning a few years ago and they build a 500hp b16 on a stock bottom end and they said if tuned correctly it was reliable.

#284310 another question i have....will i be able to use H style rods or should i get the I style rods...or does it not matter as long as they have the correct HP rating??

#284325 oo ok..thats wut i like to hear..hahah...i like spending less money rather than alot..haha...and once again another question that i found limited answers on by using the search option....for anyone who knows or can help..i thought of converting to E85 for the swap as well..ive herd it makes things run better with the right tune..is this true?? and how difficult/easy is it ...the only thing i know if im not mistaking is that i have to get some special fuel injectors?? any insight on this would be great :thumb:
By bks84
#284412 you dont need "special" injectors. you just need bigger injectors. lets say you stayed on pump gas and required a 550 on 93 octane, on e85 you'd need something thast about 35% bigger as it requires 35% more flow than gas. i think cuz its a thicker fluid. So you'd need a 750...

FYI - that's how it was explained to me, hopefully its true.

#284434 ^^ pretty much

my tuner told me with my motor/turbo.. if i put ID1000cc injectors, i think a 400 walbro, and e85.. he could get it making 400+ no problem. only thing about the e85 is it varies from station to station, ethanol percentages change through out the year, and limited availability.

the guys i know that run it keep big 50 gallon drums that they make their own "blend" with a consistent ethanol %. your neighbors will definitely think you're making meth

#284454 ^^

i also heard something about the fuel lines as well..the E85 will slowly eat the rubber lines??..or is this not true?

and what size and brand injectors do you recommend for my 350-400 whp range?? (if i use E85) 750cc like bks84 said?? and if i use E85 should i get a bigger fuel pump than what juice previously said?? (walbro 225)

I dont know about the fuel lines but I know on boats when you run fuel with ethanol it eats the rubber seals and gums up the injectors. I have also heard that it has a shorter shelf life than gasoline.

#284624 well as far as shelf life...i go through gas like its nothing...so that wont make a difference..but i doo need to know if it eats the rubber fuel lines...cuz dont need to find out the hard way cuz that would suck ass  or if it will eat up any rubber on my motor for that mater...any insight on this please?
