While the interior is out I figured i try to tackle the audio. The owner before me was really a dunce and everything was rigged i.e looped bare wires into the speakers, crappy extension, random looped wires, hacked headunit harness, blown mismatched speakers......I got most of it cleaned up today and I will be ordering some new speakers, amp and sub eventually. I'm trying to wire the car up for audio before actually purchasing anything and I've never done audio before, I talked too a buddy earlier today about it and i forgot a few things to ask. How do I calculate the total watts? Do I just add up the peak wattage of the speakers and the one sub I will be running? How do I determine what the constant wattage an amp has, Ill be doing a bridged (one 10in sub to be bridged) setup with a 4 channel amp and when it says something like 250 Watts x 4 Output 500 Watts x 2 Bridged Output ( 250W x 2 + 500W x 1) what exactly does that mean?
Just added up the total rms of the speakers and sub i want, total is 500. Should I get a amp that has a 500 or get one with a bit of leway and get one rated at 700rms? RMS Power Output @ 4 Ohms: 40 Watts x 4 Channels + 300 Watts x 1
RMS Power Output @ 2 Ohms: 50 Watts x 4 Channels + 500 Watts x 1
Bridged Power: 100 Watts x 2 Channels
Its a 5 channel btw
Any info would be great!
