I bought this 1997 hatchie with large aspirations. The car was bought in December of 2008. It had already come with a jankity fiberglass hood with no signs of any manufacturer's claim, a 4" stainless steal muffler tip, and euro taillights. This tastefully done EK seemed like a prime candidate for a cross country road trip. I drove the car from New Jersey to Atlanta on the stock D16. Then from Atlanta is was driven to Seattle while winter was in full swing. The D16 with 146,xxx mi on it handled like a champ through the South Dakota mountains. The plan was to swap the engine once arriving at my new WA home. After putting 7,000 mi on the car in less than 6 months I sold it without doing anything to the engine. I found out I was deploying to Iraq, so I had no time to do any work to the car. In those 6 months I blew a head gasket from driving around with no radiator at all. The motor used to sit in my back seat. I sold the car and left for Iraq, and now have big plans for an EG when I get home. EK, you will be missed.
