#141708 ive got the block stripped except for the crankshaft and pulley. ive read u need a special honda tool to remove the pulley.the block is on the floor so i cant do the whole screwdriver in the starter which i wouldnt try anyways. how do u guys recommend i do it.

#141712 Either use the Honda tool, or get a really big impact driver. Like, 3/4" drive. But don't twist the bolt in half. I've done that witht a 3/4" drive impact.

Use copious amounts of PB Blaster and go back and forth with the impact until it breaks free. Reasoning behind that is if you can tighten a bolt, you should be able to loosen it.

#141722 ive also read and heard a lot of people try different ways of removing and loosening that bolt(impact/giant cheater bars/extensions) and the special tool is the best pick**

#141922 yeah it's a lot harder when it is not in the car because there's no good way to hold the block still to get a good turn on the bolt.
Impact is the way to go here.

If you can't borrow an impact, you might try bolting the flywheel and possibly clutch back onto the crankshaft and then looking to hold that from moving. Possibly making a bracket or two that go from the transmission mount bolts to the clutch bolts on the flywheel :?

for example, here's something I rigged up to stop the flywheel from moving while torquing it down:

The same could be done to hold it for the crank pully bolt, then you just gotta brace the engine from moving.

#141927 I just did mine and all i needed was a $24 tool I found on Amazon.com and 2 breaker bars.

Did this with the engine out, one bar on this tool against the ground another 1 on the bolt with a 18" breaker bar and some elbow grease. :thumb:
