#161088 I have the engine out of my car and need help setting the timing. Belt snapped while driving. Whats the best approach? right now the head is off. took it off to see if valves were damaged but don't appear to be.

#161093 Well on the head aspect hopefully you dissasembled it becaus even looking at the valves in the head you wont see much but anyhow on the cam gear there is a UP and a couple marks and on the plastic peice behind the cam gear there are marks so just follow those marks....

and the bottom end pop the crank gear off and you will see the bottom gear has a small index arrow on it and i do beleive the bottom belt cover has a mark on it or if you take that off there should be a mark on the block itself....

#161101 I don't have the famed tool to remove the pulley. Couldn't i just turn it over till the correct 2 pistons are in the top of there stroke?

#161102 for the block match the groove on the crank pulley to the pointer on the oil pump.

What is this famed tool you speak of lol all it is depending on what motor ive seen either the bolt being a 17mm or 19mm pop a deep well socket or a socket and a extention to a ratchet or if you have the ability a impact driver and have at it if you cant break it loose then you will need to go ahead and have someone help out what you do is ahve someone hold the flywheel with either a prybar ( if your careful ive threaded in the bolts for the flywheel and used a bar to place in between for some leverage) or soemthing as such....and then use a pipe cheater bar breaker bar you name it try it also you will need to pop the pulley off in order to take the timeing belt cover off as well so you can replace the timing belt.....

#161114 makes sense. Trying to do some work then come in and keep shecking updates. overlooking things in the process. Still a noobie
