D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps

#164850 I haven't had the engine back together long since replacing the timing belt. So it could be many little things like wire connections but im assuming that the head/valves/cylinders/pistons are cooling at different rates causing a loss of compression. Unfortunitly my compression tester has come up missing so i am unable to check that at the moment. It has just started to drop to teens or even single digits so this is one reason im thinking its temperature related. Car has 205,000 miles on it and burns oil.(through guides or rings nor both) So i replaced the plugs and wires thinking maybe fouled but had no luck. Once the car sits and cools down it starts right up. Likewise once its running it is fine too other then the burning oil issue. Im about to pick up a 40,000 mile jdm replacement so if this problem is someting other then a worn out engine i would like to address it at the same time i do the swap. early next week hopefully. thanks, nick.

#164881 does it run fine otherwise?
You might try checking to see if it is the main relay under the driver side dash. That would prevent your fuel pump from priming. Listen for it under the rear seat.

I don't think that the different parts of the engine could cool differently enough to change compression, unless your compression is really low to begin with and your engine would run bad.

#164916 it primes and cranks like it has low compression or weak spark. I may be down on power from stock but pulls fine when its running.

#164995 At least it sounds like its priming. Do you know which relay exactly controls it under the dash. I'll test the signal to and from it. then I guess if its good there then is there a good way to check the fuel pressure without a gauge?
