oil pressure light on

- Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:56 pm #174492 if my oil pressure light comes on is it just the burning oil or can it be the oil pump that needs changing and the oil will stop burning? :? the smoke out the exhaust is black so is it the fuel pump? hahaha.. seems like a new engine is unavoidable :x

- Wed Feb 10, 2010 8:46 pm #174523 Oil pressure comes on when pressure is low = not enough oil OR oil pump failing not producing enough pressure.

If your oil level is good, then it's probably the pump failing. If you're burning oil like a mofo, the oil level probably got too low.

Changing the pump will not stop your engine's bad rings or valve seals from burning oil.

When the light comes on, add some oil ASAP before you continue driving.
