#177398 I think you will need MINIMUM 93 octane to run that CR safely, and a very good tune.
I'll let someone who knows for sure chime in on cutting the pistons :thumb:

#177401 not sure on cutting the pistons, but i would def. check valve clearence prior to final assembly :thumb: btw ive heard the older a6 blocks are better ones for a mini me setup

#177436 the valve reliefs on p29's are in the wrong place for vtec heads.
claying is a bitch with vtec heads
and the dome blocks the burn.
you will make more power with a flatter piston/slightly lower CR.
pg6 for instance:

note the smaller dome than the p29
keep in mind to make power with a high CR motor you will need a performance cam which will have more lift and/or duration.
very high CR motors are not much fun to drive on the street, they only make power at high rpm
a6 block = z6 block, good choice

#177439 its not too bad checking valve clearence on a vtec head... everyone i know usese air pressure to engage the system... but i havent seen it done in person just heard it works...

#177697 i have done y7 heads are the same design as a y8 with out vtec... this head works good for a non vtec sohc build... ive put y7 heads on y8 bottoms before... it seemd to make really good low end torque :thumb:

#177720 y7 head has the same valve placement as the vtec heads.
same size CC for that matter.
you can actually put a y7 valve train on a z6 head.
therefore you will have the same issues as the z6 head.
not saying it can't be done.
y7 ports are smaller though, you will want bigger for N/A.
here is a link to an a6/p29 build. but he is using an a6/b7 head:
