Possibly thinking of finally doing a turbo on my Civic cx im thinking of either repairing my Z6 block and grabbing a crank from my junkyard for my Z6block i have sitting in my basement since its bare.....but yea then i can drive my car whilst i build up my build.....
Cost to fix possibly the rod knock in my Z6.....
-main bearing set-47
-rod bearing set-30
-oil pan gasket 13
so around a hundred with oil and supplies......still unsure since my car as it sits needs alot of work might just take her off the road for the time being and work on it as i build the motor.....so i have a nice car by mid summer or something....not sure...
but heres my setup ive been researching upon....
id like to hit at least 160hp with this build possibly even 180hp but yea not sure yet.....
-------------
Block
-D16Z6 Im thinking of having it hot tanked so its clean and free of contaminents but im sure i could clean it up myself and get it looking awesome for less than that would cost....
Rods
-B18a1 (LS) rods came out of a low miles motor and yea better than the thin D series rods
Pistons
-Not completely sure i loved thefact that with my research the 98-00 civic GX pistons would have worked as you done need machine work tofit them on the LS rods.... but i cant seem to find them and im sure thedealership may have them but yea they are probaly expensive and ive been playing around with setups on the Zealautoworks compression testor and dosent seem to pan out.....
However here is one that dose work...
-P2M-00 D16y5 usdm which seems to give me about
a 9.68 static and 14.95:1 effective compression ratio.....
I tried Vitaras in the calc, tried others as well but some gave me a black which im guessing means too low of compression....
Any how lets get on with the Head
Low miles D16Y7 head (as i dont wish to have vtec as it never worked in my car so im guessing she dosent like vtec) wil be doing some mild port and polishing on the head and intake as well...
Head gasket id either be useing the Z6 or the double layer Y8
And for boosting purposes im thinking a T25 garet or a Volvo turbo should do me well....with 8psi or 12-13psi and sinc eim auto xing with my car i should be able to hit boost more easily with this set-up.
Mainly building this to be a daily driver X car its going to be used for daily driving and auto X as i dont like drag racing.....(wheres the thrill of the turn at high speeds lol a race last long a quarter mile maybe a couple seconds not my idea of fun but yea)......
Flywheel i aquired with my last Z6 i bought a lightweight flywheel dont know what brand or anything like that....
Also I am going to be useing an AEM trutime for the Y7 head....and i will be purchaseing the ARP Headstuds fro the Y7/8 just for extra security....
And with that said i entered in that info to the approx hp calc by zealauto...and came up with 194 at the crank and 166 at the wheel which is around what im shooting for with 8psi....but i know thats just an estimation and not a true world key but it helps in determining the right setup....and yea so what do you guys think of that??
Still in my beginning build stages trying to work things out to where i have most everything planned and thoughts of things that may need to be done or things that where unplanned etc....still going about researching can never do enough of it but i still plan on haveing a few problems along the way unplanned things that may happen but hey what build dosent have them....
