My car idles good and runs good when the engine is not heated up. When my engine starts to get warm the car will sputter and bog, I can push the pedal down all the way in any gear and it will take a while to get into the next gear but if I slowly press the pedal to the next gear it will work a little bit better. What can be wrong and there are no engine check lights. Some new parts I have include spark plugs and wires. new cap and rotor and ignition coil, new fuel filter, new oxygen and map sensor, the oil is good and the coolant is good. The timing is good and the fuel injectors are good. I ran Lucas cleaner through the engine, but really did not make a difference. What could it be this has been months worth of hassle and 2 mechanics cannot find out what was wrong. Could it be the TPS sensor? Or could it be the ICM (Ignition control module) I heard with the ICM the car will run worst when the car gets hot due to the locaton of this piece. I have also noticed a little oil on the rim of the distributor cap.
The problems start when the engine warms up... That leads me to think that it is coolant related. Perhaps the IACV (back of intake manifold) or FITV (under throttle body)
Each of those have a coolant line going in, and another line going out. I don' know if they can cause the problems you describe, but might be worth looking into and/or cleaning them out.
Do you know anyone with a civic that you can borrow their distributor for an hour to test out?
