#206715 I need some opinions on what to do with my sohc zc non vtec. Mind you its my DD and it gets almost 1000 miles a week.

Option #1: Rebuild her high comp with Bisi valve springs & ret, P29 pistons, bolt on's, etc. Similar to this guys build. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UonM5skG7io

Option #2: Go turbo. Mild set up for DD only boost 7-8psi. Leave block with stock internals.

Option #3: Rip out the zc & drop in a d15b vtec w/ bolt ons, chip it & call it a day.

Looking for just a fun DD that could make it to the track every now & then & be competitive.

#206718 COmbine option one and two.

Grab a Z6, build with option one parts and ad the bolt ons from option two and have a great motor. You can even take it a step further and get the D17a crank and rods to stroke the motor.

x2

a High comp build with low boost. Best of both worlds. :thumb:

#206755 Do you guys think a turbo motor would stand the wear and tear of driving it 1000 miles a week? I know with the right parts and know how you can make any setup reliable but I'm trying to keep my costs to a minimum.

#206758 I'd like to know the same thing bruh..

I wanna swap in a d16z6 with boost in my 93 4 dr.

#206772 D16z6 with boost FTW, you dont have to go high compression with it

#206776 If it's built and tuned well it should handle 1000 miles a week no problem. Engine management is your friend.

#206829 You barely ever go into boost in daily driving. You really have to lay into it. So for the most part, it will be as if nothing has changed.

Low load doesn't kill motors. It's not like you build the motor, and it's magically more powerful at all times. You still control the power with the throttle. It's not until you start holding that pedal down that you put the motor at risk.

#206833 Option 1 for a fun daily and you don't have to worry about how much boost or none of that just tune up your all motor and if you want more juice option 2 is most likely the best choice. As long as you don't slack on the build your motor will last as long as you allow it too :thumb:

#206949 Interesting thread as it could answer many of my similar questions. I have a z6 rebuilt, race bearings, rings etc. However I still have stock pistons and crank.

My plan for next year is to turbo. I would like about 200whp at least but I'm looking for anything mental. Is there such a thing as a stable turbo'd engine. I hear it's all in the tuning, but don't get it twisted, I'm not one to be redlining it everywhere. My only doubt is to spend a lot of money only to potentially hesitate before putting my foot down knowing something could go 'bang'?

I really don't want to have that doubt...!

Sorry for the thread take over.

#207161 I am leaning more towards getting a d15b, b16 or b18 and doing a mild all motor setup. I don't think a turbo setup would be ideal for my situation since I drive so much everyday.
