- Mon Aug 30, 2010 6:04 am #211196 well i sold my coupe a while ago but just picked up a 91 hatch is got the d15b7 in but the bottom end is shitty.i bought a d15b8 from a friend for 20 dollars good motor but shitty head....can i put my b7 head on the b8 block with no problems...my car has already been wired for the newer d series then da d15b1 or b2 can sum one let me know soon

- Mon Aug 30, 2010 1:52 pm #211216 Yes you can put the D15b7 head on B15b8 block. The b8 is an 8 valve motor, but I helped a friend do this exact swap before and the b8 had the pistons cut for 16 valves.
So make sure the pistons have the cuts for 16 valves and you're good to go :thumb:

- Mon Aug 30, 2010 7:17 pm #211277 Yeah what he said. If the pistons in the b7 are still good you could swap them over ... although if you are going to be tearing the engines apart you might as well to a full rebuild ... which might not be a bad idea to do anyway.

- Mon Aug 30, 2010 7:26 pm #211281 the b7 pistons rings are shot....but the motor i got from my friend just had all da gaskets done just recenty actually before is car got stolen.....this is just temp.i plan on a single cam vtech swap after a while
