#215757 i have a comp cams stage 2 cam and want to know if it ok to install in a stock head its for a d16z6. the guy gave me stage 2 comp cams valve springs and supertech nitarte coated valves too but i dont wanna tear apart the head at this time

let me know please! want to do this tonight

#215799 You could, but I wouldn't. Do the valve train with the cam, better to be sure than to float a valve.

#215830 what does float a valve mean? it doesnt matter too much i got a good offer todday on the entire set u ans since it is my DD im leaving it stock. but im am curiuos to find out why not :)

#215832 Floating a valve is when it stays open even after the cam lobe isn't pushing it open any more. It happens when your valve springs are not strong enough to cope with the higher lift (or other part of the profile) of an aftermarket cam. Usually ends with piston to valve contact ... which is not good.

#215946 ohh shit! i didnt realize that could happen. anyways like i said i have a buyer for all that good stuff so ima buy some cams for my gsr since im rebuilding it and put in oem jdm itr pistons, i figure the head should match. and my sohc is staying stock for now cause its my dd and dont want to have any problems with it :thumb:
