#224940 the D15b is a JDM motor. Most refs will throw a fit over that. Plus the y* is newer, so the head will have to be the same year(or newer) as the block. If the y8 block is going into a EG chassis, you could always ref with the y8 head and then , say, down the road put the 3 stage head on.

#224942 Refs with racing or emissions?
I can only see that being a problem in california
in ohio they dont care as long as your check engine light isnt on your good

I was wondering if you could put a jdm D15b head on a D16
It would be the best of both

Its kinda like a 1.6L gsr

#225251 Head swaps are never legal in CA. You have to swap the whole engine. It will never pass the ref, but as long as you don't throw a bunch of aftermarket parts on it, your everyday smog tech will never notice.

Do you even have the P2J ECU?

this.
while the 3 stage vtec d15b's are plentiful, the ecu is hard to find, importers almost never bother to include it.
also, you would want the complete engine harness, OBD2 is different from obd1 in that it comes into the cabin and connects directly to the ecu, unlike obd1 that connect at the shock tower.

#226144 So what if you put a JDM D15b 3stage head on a D17 block?
Would that be the big block of the D series?
