#236194 Hello guys,

Got a EG3 D13B2 and atm its cooling constantly that the temperture guage is spending most of the time at 'C' (cold) during daily driving. Does anyone know whether i can get a thermostat from another D series honda engine that will give me the correct opertating temperture. As in a thermostat that will open at a higher tempreture that fits to my engine.

If anyone knows a few please list them! :thumb:

Cheers guys

#236234 is your thermo good?

sometimes when they go bad they stick open which would make the car run cooler than it should...

#236304 Well i know that the one that i have has a low opening tempreture, which combined with an ally rad keeps it cooler than it needs to be. BUT when i was doing a water/coolant change i was flushin out the cooling system (through the rad around the hoses etc etc) and didn't need to take out the thermostat because water was already circulating when the thermostat was in eventhough the engine was off. So it could be that its stuck open?

#236317 Many do not realize how important a properly working thermostat is.

True story:
Back in 1967 I worked in a Service Station. (Yah I am old) A guy came in with a AMC Rambler. He said his mileage had dropped off about 5 MPG.
Turned out he had installed a 180 degree thermostat. I put in a factory recommended 194 degree thermostat.
He returned a week later and said his mileage was back where it used to be.

Automobile manufacturers spend a lot of money on research to send out their vehicles with specific original equipment. Installing something with different specifications or having a defective part will greatly affect performance and/or economy. Try to stay with what the manufacturer recommends. Your car will "Live long and prosper".

#236329 ^ what that guy about this guy said

just go get a oem one for your motor
overcooling can hurt ur motor as much as overheating

overcooling  yes you can sluged the oil and starve the bearings and then bam, ur replacing ur block instead of a headgasket 8)

just remember oem is the way to go unless its a full on drag car that never sees the streets lol

#236451 Thanks for the replies. I'll try gettin the oem for my 1.3. I do understand overcooling and what it can do, i think i may need one with a higher opening tempreture but i'll go with what you guys say first!

I'll let you know how it goes, cheers :thumb:

#240273 The thermostat was stuck slightly open. Plus the silicone gasket was all stuck and bent. Changed it with the OEM one i bought and the car heats up nicely ! :thumb:
