#67556 hi guys

i was planning on putting a JR SC on my car but i need to pay some bills and have to sell it

so after these bills are paid ill have very little money to spend on the car.

So i wanna stay N/A and do some mods that will give me power.im looking for 90kw

i have a DC sport header at the moment and 57mm free flow.
so what can i do that will make my 1600 a killer in its class?

higher compression? porting and flowing the head? value train?(get it reving to 8000RPM?) cam, dont really want to compromise the idling tho.

any other ideas? oh and the motor is a D16A7. non vtec AFAIK the only vtec head that works on this motor is the z6 which we dont get locally.

please help

#67567 there's some other topics about a NA D series... they all end up saying "don't waste your time" It will cost you more in the end than if you were to buy the JRSC And your idle will end up being compromised to get the top end power, especially on a non-vtec engine.

I'd keep it as is for now (I know that sucks to hear) but in the long run it will be worth it. If you want NA, then I would save for a swap.

#67585 Building the motor is going to cost more than what you'll get for selling the supercharger. Probably more than what you paid for it brand new. I say that you should apply for some credit cards to pay the bills and then put the supercharger on the car.

It's an aftermarket cam that screws up your idle and usually a "stage 1" will idle just fine.

N/A build consists of high compression pistons (and all the associated rebuilding), arp head studs, head work, a big cam, intake, an expensive header, exhaust, a fuel management system and all the associated costs of installing and tuning it. Around 200 hp and you'll need bigger injectors. Depending on how crazy you want to go, you may want to balance the engine and upgrade the valvetrain to raise the redline.

#67657 After the credit act in SA its hard as shit to get credit. i have one card got 2 months ago and coz i have not had it for 6 months they will not increase the limits

i would love to keep the SC but i really need the money for it now

so i was just looking at would it be worth doing some small na mods i would love to upgrade the valvetrain to raise the redline. stage 1 cam? chip? as i said i got the header and xhurst im looking for 130 hp at altitude

#67691 Chips are bad news. They're no replacement for getting the engine properly tuned.

Go with a cam, intake, header, and exhaust. It doesn't sound like you have enough money to get some high compression pistons and install them properly. I wouldn't raise the red line. Besides upgrading the valvetrain you also have to get the crank balanced. So basically you're pulling apart the entire engine. It's just not worth it.

Cam, intake, header, and exhaust should put you well within 130 whp. I'm making 120 whp @ 5000 ft altitude and that's with the stock cam.
