D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps
By nekim
#93596 I have a D15B7 engine and I'm going to be doing a "mini me" swap with a D16Z6 head.

D16Z6 head, intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail, injectors, plugs, wires, distributor, valve cover, internal valve train, original cam gear plus an OBX adjustable cam gear.

I can just swap out all the previous parts with the new parts but is there anything else I would need to do. Vtec or anything like that? I know there is a write up on this but I just have acouple questions to ask.

#93598 You have to remove the oil dowel from your B7 block between the two middle pistons, and didn't see it in your list of parts but a Vtec solenoid also

#93619 You will also need a different timing belt one for the Z6 since there is a different tooth count so yea just need a new belt for a z6 ontop of everything else

#93656 read the write up, use it as a guide as you do this, it will make things 1343769653 times more easy. you will have to run wiring for vtec, also remove the oil dowl thingy as hondajunkee said. choose a head gasket, d16y8 will give you a slightly higher compression ratio over the d16z6. and there will come a point when you will have one extra water line, so you have to Tee into another one to connect it.

It's all in the write up :thumb: good luck
