#99414 i have a friend thats swapping a gsr motor in his 94 coupe. i have the same car told him to let me know when he wanted to race and he said it wouldnt be worth his time. just looking for opinions. my mods are d15b7 with z6 head and IM port and polish. p28 ecu, 2 layer head gasket, aluminum under drive crank pulley, CAI, headers, test pipe and 2.25 exhaust. and i rapped his old stock d16z6 with a short ram.

#99483 Yeah I'm with your friend. He'd walk all over you, sorry. A modded D series will make maybe 110 at the wheels. Probably less.

A clutch isn't going to make him faster. Especially if he has the original long geared transmission.

#99686 um dosnt a d16z6 run just under that stock?

#99688 d16z6 is supposed to have 125bhp stock

#99704 probly in the 90's to the wheels stock.... i've always thought you could get close to the stock bhp to the wheels with i/h/e. your probably close

bhp is "brake horse power" which should mean at the wheels does it not?

#99718 I would recommend the Minime, Get a Ex/Si Transmission, get a Stage 2 or 3 Clutch, Stage 2 cam,I/h/e and Some Nitrous. You can probably get this for the same money or less as a GSR Swap. And you will stomp all over the GSR swapped EG's.

I have a D16z6 with the D16z6 Transmission with Nitrous. It would walk all over B Series swapped civics, I also took down non-performance vtec K swaps.

#99781 My previous car had a D16Z6 with an AEM CAI, stock exhaust manifold, custom 2.25 exhaust. It made 107 hp at the wheels.

I/H/E really doesn't make a whole lot of power unless they're some of the fairly new the market, high dollar items (like Bisimoto, Hy Tech, AEM V2). You're very lucky if you pick up 10hp from the typical off-the-shelf parts. 30 hp would be insane. Don't believe manufacturer's claims.

My current engine is similar to a D16Y8. It has a CAI, DC header, 2.25 mandrel bent exhaust, Magnaflow muffler, AEM Twin Fire, COP conversion, no PS, lightweight flywheel, and an AEM EMS. It only makes 119 whp. That's considered very good for an internally stock D series.

The major problem with this discussion is that we're talking about peak hp; which is fairly useless as far as gauging how much faster those parts will make you go.

#99783 The B18C1 is DOHC, it's larger displacement, larger valves, larger ports, higher compression, it has a two stage intake manifold, and it has VTEC on both the intake and the exhaust valves.

And back to the problem I mentioned with comparisons of peak hp... A 170hp B18C1 is faster than a 170hp D16Z6. Figure that out.

#100636 i've heard you can pick up some decent hp with a port and polish on the head and IM. i am having my dads freidns shop do it. along with a much higher CR than my stcok d15b7 i was hoping to have made some good power along with the crank pulley. if not i will run spray. my mini me just got done and it feels way faster than my old d15b7 with I/H/E that used to smoke my friends 04 ex with exhaust. then again that cars alot heavier too.

#100702 The GSR swapped car will walk all over your mini me. Even if you get head work.

#100833 What do you mean "crank pulley"? Are you replacing the crank pulley? Don't go over 6000 RPM if you do!

It doesn't do anything for you anyway.

#100925 i have a friend that has ran his car with a aluminum crank pulley for 2 years and hasnt had a problem yet and his engines a d16z6.
