#175375 This just got interesting... Non vtec heads don't have an opening for the vtec solenoid in the casting, so why would someone make a plate to cover it?
Also if the Block says D15B then it's a JDM D15B because D15b7 blocks have D15b7 stamped on them.

But the head is what gets me... never seen that before!

#175390 i will take it off and get some pics as soon as i can and of the block stamp and anything else that i think might help... is there any stampings on the head if so where would i look???
User avatar

#175393 there are stampings on the head
look right above your exhaust manifold
on the upper left hand side should be stamped something not sure for this head
if you take a good pic of the front of your motor we should be able to tell you :thumb: :thumb:
on second thought you will have to remove the heat shield first

#175457 That d15b non vtec bottom end is what Im using and the head that was attached had that same hole with a block off plate. I was told it was for emmissions regulations for japans carbureted version . Heres a pic of mine .

#175502 So can one put in a Vtec and switch up the cam gears component to make some juice out of a non-vtec head?

#175718 ok guys i did some looking around on the net and found out what the block off plate is for it's a jdm D15b non vtec coming off a CRX, EG, the plate is not for vtec solenoid its for the carburator it used in japan.. its for the mechanical fuel pump
