#248449 As far as doing it once and right, wouldn't it be best to wait 'til I can get the best turbo set-up, and all other best un-boosted parts for the best ride? (Should I just use the budget on not very much, and just get the best in the few things I'll be able to afford?) Quality over quantity.

#248520 You can get good quality parts on the cheap. Or cheap parts that will at least get the job done reliably. You just really don't want to mess up with the engine management. That can turn into a really costly mistake. I'd rather cheap out on the turbo personally. If the seals on your $100 turbo go south, you buy a rebuild kit for maybe another $100 pull it off and replace all the worn out stuff. If your engine management hack goes south and can't compensate for something, you could get cracked sleeves, piston damage, throw a rod ... then you have to pull the engine and rebuild it.

There are certain places it's ok to cheap out a little, but I don't believe that engine management is one of them. The cost benefit ratio is much better there than it is with buying a newer/better turbo.

Finding a junkyard turbo and rebuilding it will probably save you enough money over purchasing a new turbo to get your ECU chipped.

#248762 i'm new to the whole import scene, but i just aquired a 93 si.

What can i expect with full bolts and a cam/tune in a d16z6? How much will this impact the mpg's?

i'm also on the fence with either doing an all motor build or budget turbo build. This is my daily driver.
