#70869 anyone know about the wiring the solenoid to a switch? lol just curious! :hehe:

#70880 Do not wire VTEC to a switch. Get the right ecu and run the wires the correct way. Your only running TWO anyway.

#70886 you can mod those ECus for Vtec. i think teal DX has a write up about it

#70887  dont worry i wasnt going to. Just seeing if its possible. just for knowledge sake! Anyways i have to rewire or get a new connector to fit the solenoid. any know a part number/if any plug (off of vtec) will work from junkyard? Thanks guys!

sweet im looking for it now dc! [edit] only found a DIY for swapping auto to manual. :(

#71536 I'm pretty sure you can use just about any VTEC solenoid plug. Or just find a Civic EX in the junkyard and cut the plug off.

There's plenty of threads about wiring VTEC. It's the same whether it's for a B16, B18, D16, etc. There are two pins on the ECU. One is for oil pressure at the solenoid, that needs to see ground. The other controls VTEC by grounding that wire. Join them together and run that wire to one of the wires on the solenoid plug. The other isn't necessary. You find the exact pins and wire colors at the solenoid online.

Here; I'm pretty sure it's here. http://technet.ff-squad.com/

#71579 Maybe slightly off topic... but is there any way to tell if vtec is working or not, as i cant hear a change in tone at all :?

#71618 i was actually wondering about how im going to feel it. my freind keeps telling me and tealdx told me that im not really going to feel it, and that i should go the route of a vtec light. wonderous things come to mind when i think vtec light! Also some news! I gots me a p28 for free!wheee! freind had one from his del sol like 7 years ago! looks brand friggen new! Sweet!
ok i went to FFS Technet and the ony thing that looked like it had to do with the solenoid was a thread called "JDM VTEC Solenoid (w/out vtps)" but it wasnt a link. i mean you can see by the pics i posted that the person who had it before ran wires to the ecu connectors. now from what i gathered from suspendeds comment is that the two wires from the solenoid will be spliced and that runs to the ecu and the other wire from the ecu gets grounded? if so i need to know the right connector pin numbers and locations, to make sure this idiot was right in the wire placement. Im guessing what he meant was something like this? (Please excuse the crude drawing!)

?? :thumb: Im so excited Big difference from the p06 to the p28! Hello 8000 rpm! lol!! :woot:

#71783 Those two wires dont go into each other. They each go to a difference spot on the ecu.

ok then im totally not getting what hes trying to say then. I need help :( Then i need to know which wire goes to which pin on the ecu.

#71790 A4 - VTEC soleniond
D6 - Vtec Pressure switch

Ground wire to ground somewhere good.

as for what plug to use. ALL VTEC plugs are the same. VTEC plugs are also ALL green. Just grab one from a salvage yard to plug into your soleniod and make sure you have the pig tails haning off the plug you got, and just extend those wires to the correct pin outs on teh ecu.

Use this link to find the PINOUTs on your ecu. Ignore the KNOCK sensor, and all the yellow boxes. THey dont exist on your app.
