#78033 well the other day i went to the shop were i usually go to fix the things on my car that i cant do to see if they would do a swap. They said they wouldnt mess with it cuz they had to convert it to obd1. But they knew a guy who did swaps all the time. He said he could do it with no problem. he said hell do the swap with no cost...... but ill have to hand over the hatch to him with the cx in it.... im not really going to lose much because i only spent 300 for the hatch. IDK...what u guys think? oh yea am i have to get an obd1 intake manifold? and should i keep the clutch hydro or cable?

#78171 well let me anser the last questions since i know a definate answer for them

Hydro or cable

Keep it hydro cable only complicates things really i mean yea its just a cable but to tell you the truth daily driving is rough unless you got built legs because you have to push harder I would only use a cable trans if i did a B-swap since they are cheaper but with a D series id stick with the hydro trans just use the one you have already

Obd1 intake manifold?

I would suggest getting one but I would end up getting the ZC speed intake manifold adapter thusly you can use almost any d series intake manifold on the ZC then. makes life alot easier

And on the note of the guy doing the swap for free for the si and the cx motor. I would probaly do that i mean you would end up spending like 500 + doing that with a regular shop and j/w is he gonna do the obd1 swap or are you gonna have to supply the parts if you have to supply the parts idk then i would have to take some stuff out of the si like the seats lol and the ecu definately grab the zc obd0 ecu just because its worth a good amount everyone usually runs with the obd0 cars the 1st gen teg but that ecu dosent compare to the ZC one.....

Anyhow its really up to you in the long run i probaly would do it but id like to see his work first and talk to a customer or two you know....just to get an idea of how things went if it was quick or slow etc...

#78293 ok im keeping it hydro but it would be a good idea to get an ex or si tranny yea?

and i went on the site were they sell the adapters and theyre sold out any idea were i can find one or any other alternatives? i cant use the one from my cx huh?

yea the guy is doing the obd1 swap....and by supplying the parts? wat would i need? dizzy...ecu. wat else? and the ecu on the hatch is a pm6 isnt he zc ecu supposed to be a pm7?

#78306 pm7 is obd0 ZC the one you want is P29 but if you get a decent tune done with your ecu it wont matter since P29's are hard to come across....

but yea ex/si trannys are the best for the D or you could do a hybrid stlye. but yea that would be your best bet to get.

and yea you should ned distributor ecu harness and you will need to make some changes to some of the sensors i think

And im guessing you mean distrib adapters? well you could make one using the plugs off your cx distrib and make a harness adapter with the part of the ZC harness....
I may be doing this unless i find out i can get this crx for cheap....but yea thats your best route is to make a hybrid adapter.

#78348 i hear that that the ex and the dx trannys are the same but its not right? ex have shorter gears dont they? and will a 95 ex tranny bolt on to my zc? if i use that tranny what clutch would i need?

I was referring to the ZCspeed adapter for the manifold....where can i get one? or an obd1 ZC intake mani.?

#78360 well the obd1 intake manifold you would hav eto find either from thezcr.com forum d-series.org or ebay they are hard to come by unles someone blew up their motor and parted it out before they got rid of it....anyhow the zc speed adapter you can get on their website it says they got some in but id email them and see. this would still be your best bet

now the tranny ordeal the dx is not even close to the ex the closest to the ex is of coarse the si and yes the gears are shorter....

And yes any d-series tranny will bolt right up to your ZC thats the best part of the whole ZC thing cheaper in the tranny dept.

anyhow the clutch you will need is dependent on your tranny if you stick with dx id get a dx if you get a ex/or si id get a ex or si clutch since i dont think they are all the same. the flywheel on the otherhand is the same a crx hf would be the lightest oem flywheel but yea i would double check with someone else on the whole clutch idea im pretty sure but not totally certain.
