#140710 well if you go with an aftermarket cam, your going to have to chip/socket your ecu and prolly get a tune because the stock ecu can't handle a high lift cam.... but you might be able to squeeze by on a slightly better than stock but prolly not worth it.

i haven't looked at N/A cams but i would go with a bisimoto or zex cam, probably stage 1 or so...maybe skunk 2

#140738 ok so then i should stay wit the stock cam

and some more questions

and wat does it come with??

What is wrong with chipping a P06 to run a Z6? I plan on adding vtec and using a stock P28 map to run mine, since I can't find P28's for cheap.

you can do that, when you get the chip kit, just get the VTEC conversion

#141413 ok guys so far here is my list (the main things)

*Hasting piston rings (75mm)
*ACL Duraglide rod,main thrust bearings(standard)
*Full gasket kit (from FJ Dist.)
*Top Line Oil pump (from FJ Dist.)
*GMB O.E Water pump(from FJ Dist.)
*Timing Belt (OEM from autozone)

I'm gonna get the block's deck resurfaced & honed
and for the pistons & valves i'm gonna
soak them in ATF to get the carbon build off, i hear they ATF is good for that :thumb:

as for the head i'm gonna get it resurfaced
but i'm gonna leave it alone
unless valves are bent and in that case im will get
a set of 16 valves from FJ Dist. and have the new seats
& new guides put in

and as for the lil things

*OEM thermostat
*NGK spark plugs
*OEM Cap & Rotor
*OEM spark plug wires
*OEM fuel fliter
*OEM alt. belt & power steering belt (no a/c)
*PCV valve
*any hose that needs replaceing
*any sensor that is bad
*dielectric grease on all the connectors
*of course all the fuilds and lube for installation

and for the trans just make sure all the syncor's are good and
make sure it doesnt pop outta gear
and resurface the flywheel and stage 1 cutch

if there is anything else chime in :thumb:

There's nothing wrong with it. In fact, I know quite a few people that have a chipped P06 and runs great. Just don't run a non-chipped P06 on a Z6, as I am. No VTEC=no power and the 6500rpm limiter sucks.

#141575 ok so there is nothin im missing??

and i hope all this cost less then 1600 cause i still need to buy the motor
User avatar
By BLaCkSiLo
#141651 i don't think your missing much and if you are...it's going to be something easy you can pick up autozone..

maybe axles? if yours are getting old, might as well

$1600 is a little of an overshot, i mean the FJ order is going to the biggest at like $400 or so? the rest from there is prolly like 200 or so, your g2g!

#188323 well after 5 mins and 19 pgs later i find this 8)

ok if everything works out good, im gettin a compelet z6 swap
motor/trans/ecu and a carbon fiber hood outta a eg hatch si for 250 bucks

i went through and read this whole post over and all i seem to be missing is how to wire up vtec..

i know you ground the ground wire.. duh..lol
and the other to the ecu..

my question is what pin number on the ecu and how would i hook it up to the ecu when the clip is connected to the ecu :?

thanks in advance
User avatar
By Ajax1989
#188406 ok cool, but after i run the wire to the ecu, how will i hook it up to the ecu??
wont the clip be in the way??
User avatar
By eg84dr
#188488 the clip is technically in the way but since the plugs are empty in the vtec location you can use this to your advantage
go to the junkyard and cut some ecu clips out one clip will do the trick
then follow this giude on depining it then simply slide the pins you need in the location you need and bam you have vtec yo!
