well as some of you know im trying to get more power on my vtec-extreme lolz... but rite now i feel like a ricer
so ive been thinking im low on cash so what would be the most bang for my buck..
d15b single stage vtec with vx tranny
or
my d15z1 with d16z6 head and s20 (ex) tranny running a p28 ecu ?
of course all boltons..
later on either engine im gonna run a 50 shot of nitrous..
i was working on a mini me but i sold it..

Both of those are bad ideas. The transmission is what makes a Honda fast, and you've got one of the longest geared trannies available. It was geared specifically for the D15Z1 which was built to have enough torque not to bog down at 800-2000 RPM. And the D15Z1 bottom end is weak and wont handle much power increase.
Best bang for your buck is a B18b. You can find them in pick-your-part type junkyards now.

what about d15b with ex tranny?
i can save up a couple bucks and get that..
i dont really trust my local pick a part yards because ive bought there engines before and either there really leaking or needing of rebuilds and they try to sell them to me 400 for engine and 250 for tranny

that's a good start and cheaper than a DOHC swap. But even then you're blowing your money trying to make a D series fast with bolt-ons - with the exception of nitrous. D's don't make cheap power in N/A setup. Nitrous or boost is what gets good numbers for these motors.
How you should look at it is in the long term, what do you want? Is buying a D15b now going to be a step in that direction or is it going to just delay your goal? If it's 2 cams you want, I'd stick with the z1 for a while longer and save up. Or if you have the itch to mod your car, do suspension or wheels or brakes

it depends on how fast you want it i have a d15b with si tranny stage 2 clutch and 12lb flywheel all the bolt on goodies and i love it.... its my dd and will run 14s so its a quick little sohc with out boost or nitrous

I say go with the b15b you can get them like mine for around 800 shipped from japan to cali to where ever you live

thats the way mine was also but they charge if they have to take it off the truck... so if you have a fork lift then you can dodge that fee lol.....sound like a good deal i would say wait until you get the other 200 for the tranny so you can do it all at one time instead of pulling it back apart later....
