i just picked up a d16y8 from my buddy for 400 bucks it was in an all stock auto 98 ex with 160k miles...his cousin has owned it since it was new and it has been well maintained but he gave the car to his duaghter when she turned 16 and she totalled the car 2 days later lol...so far i put a megan header on it and i got a si tranny waiting on it also... im just going to do the usual bolt ons, stage 2 clutch and 12lb flywheel and drop it in and use it for a daily motor....but it was a great deal so i figured i would tell yall about it thanks matt :thumb:

Don't bother with a VTEC controller.

VTEC controllers dont really help you. Just get the p28 ecu and have vtec engage when its spose to. Changing it doesnt help you at all.

NO vtec controller. just get a p28 and tune it with y8 maps and your set.

boost?? wut suggestions are u looking for? power options?

well you have n/a, turbo, or spray. (supercharger, but thats a wast of money when you can spend the same and get a turbo)

out of the three id say turbo FTW any day all day. more reliable, fuel efficient when you want, and you can boost your stock blok depending on the health of ur blok.

Turbo man..TURBO! :thumb:

Those horror stories alway involve the wrong tune, shitty parts, more boost than the motor could handle or some other thing not done correctly.

Do it right the first time and you will be fine. I have a friend here that boosted a stock JDM D15b on 8lbs, dyno and tuned to make 200 at the wheels and has been like that for a long time!

^^^^ i totally agree with the guys above.

Boost is the way to go man. horror stories are from ppl that dont build/tune/&research enough or do things correctly. like said before "do it right ONCE" and a new overwhelming joy will be introduced to your driving experience. There is almost no argument because of the proven facts. Turbo is the best power option for us. The only arguments are the opinionated side of everything.

so many good numbers can be made on the Dseries with boost. stok blok or built. all in the Tune Tune Tune

BOOST FTW
