Cold Idle Problem

So i just bought this car a couple days ago and the engine runs great its a 99 dx motor( no vtec ) Sad but a mini me can fix that.. but the only problem is when i start it up cold it idles up and down between 1500-2300 then once at normal temp it runs fine.. idk if this means i have a bad FITV or just maybe clean it out? what do u guys think?

pretty sure thats normal. mine does it every once in a while. just gettin warmed up. if it runs good/smooth once warmed up, pretty sure shes fine

yea its not a problem as far as messing up the motor.. but its pretty annoying when instead of starting at high rpms and moving down it goes back and forth hella loud in the school parking lot lol but yea i cleaned out the fast idle thermo valve and now it does how it supposed to

Yep it's your Fast Idle Thermo Valve. Here's a DIY for cleaning it:
