D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps

#140388 So I finally got my JDM D15B in my Si and it idles ok until it gets warm, then the idle jumps around. It smokes as well. I think its getting too much fuel. I am running the p28 and not the p08 since I have the 4 wire o2. I have searched for 3 days now and most people say the p28 should be fine. Some say I need the p08 base maps. Should I just use the p08? Can I use the p08 with the 4 wire o2? I have a Skunk2 intake manifold, short ram intake,DC sports header, AEM fuel rail and pressure regulator. I have no CEL and it drives good other than smoking like a diesel. I was told an AFC may help. I ordered the APEXI Neo and also the plug and play harness from Boomslang. Anyone have some good advice?

#140396 The AFC is more of a bandaid than curing the real problem. I don't know about the ECU though, not familiar with the P08. I would try the ECU to see if it fixes the original problem before adding more variables to the situation.

#140428 Id go with the p08 and a 1 wire o2 and see if that solves it.

#140439 I don't have a 1 wire o2, that's the issue. Just my brand new 4 wire

#140442 im guessing the p20 and the p08 have diffrent maps so that should cause a lil bit of a problem. but you should get your mind all wraped around just ecu - o2 problems. it could also be something else. like the motor itself is burning oil. hows your oil level ?

#140445 The oil level looked ok, but is only been drive a little bit. I am leaning towards a bad engine. I did a compression test and I got 215 on 1,3,4 and only 145 on 2. I added a bit of oil into the cylinder and it went up to 180.

#140449 I am going to warm it up and retest it. it was not warmed up when I did it. 215 seem really high from what I could find when searching.

#140450 Ok, I just retested with it warm. 1,2 and 3 are at 215 and 4 is at 220.

#140459 whats the rpm at? and how "rough" is it.

#140599 mabey a bad ring in the 4th cylinder. durring start up compression is low. when oil circulates it builds up volume in the compression chamer, increasing the compression. hell thats my guess. how do the spark plugs look. and black on them ?

#140634 I ended up a quart low after driving for a few days so I took the time to replace all the valve seals today. I started it up and backed it out of the garage and now it runs bad, almost dies. Tried to set the timing, but I cant get it to idle good. I will check the distributor tomorrow as well. I am really starting to hate this car.
