I have a D16z6 that I recently swapped and I was/Still am having a pain in the rear getting the car timed. Battery was getting weak so I took it out of the car and charged it then hooked it back up. After that I get maybe 1 flash on my timing light then nothing else.

I have already done the following
- Tried 2 different Distros (d16z6, and D15b7)
- Replaced Coil in D16z6 Dizzy
- Brand new cap
- swapped bewteen new d16z6 and new d15b7 plug wires(currently the z6 wires are in)
- Tried 2 different ECUs, P06 and P72

I have fuel pressure and the turning the key on the pump primes. When testing was going to swap main fuel relays. I couldn't find any of my other relays when testing. The Main Fuel Relay i have is the new style I bought brand new from honda a year ago.

I will be trying a new fuel relay, when I find where they got put after the move. If you guys have any other advice I would appricate it, I have done just about everything I have read in topics or could think of.

Ignition control module maybe?

Do you get all your parts from Honda or a parts store? If it's from a part's store, chances are you just got a bad piece. I see that every once in a while, not often, but still see it.

Perhaps check your ignition switch. If that's bad it wouldn't allow the coil to get energized.

^^^icm, probably with all the other stuff you changed.
if your pump primes, then your main relay is good.

For my old DC4, the ICM was $257 at Honda... Bring lube.

You'd be better off buying another z6 distributor for that price... you can get used ones on ebay that come with a warranty. I bought one for $60 a while back. I got one that didn't work one time, and the seller sent another no questions asked, without getting the old one back.

The D15b7 dizzy does not line up properly and will make the timing off because of that, so don't waste your time with that dizzy.

I don't think the main relay is your problem.

If only 1 or 2 cyls were not getting spark, I would suspect the plug wires. But that's not the case.

Yeah, I only bought a new ICM because I had to get a whole new distributor. My brother accidentally sprayed down my engine bay while I was cleaning the points on my cap and rotor. (Splash sheild was off...)

Might as well replace the plug wires just to rule that out. OE wires are your best bet. Period. As you probably know.

That happened to me and I just swaped ICM's from another dizzy I got for $40 off Craigslist...Try Craigs First, I was gonna try the local junkyards but your Really lucky if u can find a complete dizzy!! Especially a 92-95 honda civic dizzy!

There was a ICM I was gonna buy from Performance Distributors- Honda Fire Power called the Dyna Mod-ICM Its like $80 and I think If u get one from a local autoparts its around the same price...Hope u get it fixed! :thumb:

Bump

Wednesday I will be going to work on the car again. Any other ideas on stuff to look for?

I will be double checking my wiring harness, Making sure everything is plugged in nice and snug, Make sure nothing came loose. And then swapping ICM's.

I think its something telling the dizzy to stop sparking. Maybe the ecu doesn't see another sensor or something that it needs. If anyone can think of what sensors would stop spark or the car from starting Please leave a comment.

Swapped ICM from a good D15b7 dizzy.

I now get 2 flashes/sparks then nothing instead of just one like I had before, then nothing else. If I power everything off then try again I get another set of 2 flashes on my timing light.

What else would be the issue? I am going to get another ECU and try that. I cant think of anything else that would be the issue

Possible ground issue??? check the ones on the inner fender walls towards the front, as well as the ones leading off your motor....besides that only thing i can think of is theres an issue with a positive wire possible grounding out somewhere....tho i would think thatwould blow a fuse

I checked grounds before, I will go over it again when i come back with a different ecu.

Battery was fully charged when i lost spark. My radio and lights work just fine. Its not a Battery issue.

The engine cranks over, after my two flashes on the timing light the engine still cranks over. The timing light is good as I tested it both on my EK(first time around with only 1 flash) and my DC(Second time that I got two flashes as I dont drive my EK in crappy weather)

This issue has really got to me. After swapping out ecus and (agian) Checking grounds (agian) I will have no idea of what left to check/fix.

If I cant get this working I will be looking for a new Daily Driver/Family Car. I might get an EX Sedan. Then transfer the good stuff over to that and part out the DX Sedan and my Swap.

for the z6 to run . originally it's a P28 ecu. your running a p72. it's for a b18c1. higher comepression then a z6 i believe. z6's are 9.3:1 or something near that and b18c1 is, 10.8:1. check the specs on the top this forum.

Also No Cels, I still have compression, the car will keep turning over after it looses spark, Its just an electronics issue with spark.

I have had my old D16z6 and my Old Z6 head, b7 block Minime in my coupe running on a p72 for a while. A friend of mine has his d16z6 running on a p06 temporally until he can get a p28.

I know you need a p28 to run a D16z6 correctly. However other ECUs will let the engine start and run. When you get on it with other ecus it wont run as good, however You can start and drive a car on anouther OBD1 D/B Series ECU.

I am going to be picking up anouther p06 from the junkyard to see if that has any better luck. If the Junkyard had p28's for $35 then I would get one, However they dont. I also dont feel like spending $150 on an ECU that most likely wont fix anything.

I will also recheck all my fuses, agian, and check my grounds, agian. If this doesnt' work I have no idea of what to do next.
