My car won't start?

Well I started doing A LOT of sanding on my car, getting it ready to be painted. It would have been done by now, but it's been raining almost every day for the past 2 weeks.

Now, about a week ago I started the car to drive to the store and back to pick up a few things, even though the car was 5 different colors from sanding. It didn't start very good, but after a 2-3 tries it started just fine and ran just fine. It also started just fine when I started it to leave the store.

I tried to start the car again 2 days ago, because I needed to move it because I couldn't get to the other side of the car very well to sand the bottom passenger side. It wouldn't start. I tried and tried, with no luck.

I'm 95% sure that it has to do with me sanding, but the air filter looked clean. Later today I'm going to go try to clean the bay out with some engine de-greaser and blow all of the dust/sand out that I can with the air compressor, but what else could it be? I'm REALLY going to be pissed after I spend around $500 bucks to get a few parts for this car after it was broken in to, and then days out in the heat sanding and getting it ready to be painted, and when it is finally almost ready to be primed...the car doesn't start.

I'll check on all of that a little later when I head outside to work on the car.

There was a light that would come on when I tried to start it, but I don't think it was the check engine light. The check engine light stays on in the car, it has every since I bought it.

Hell, my cruise control light comes on every time I press the brakes :hehe:

Well, the deal with the cluster is nearly a year old. I never had a problem with the engine and nothing ever happened with the brakes/cruise control.

So I HIGHLY doubt that it magically just now started to mess up, right as I start sanding on the car.

maybe your starter took a shit?
have you tried to jump start it or "pop" start it?

i doubt sanding your car would stop it from running
i sanded mine and did all kinda body work to it and it runs fine

What is the reasoning behind you thinking it was because of sanding your car? Just because this happened After the fact?

never heard or sanding a car and then it wont start. cars get sanded every day at bodyshops get painted and run fine. Be more descriptive with the fuel pump priming or not and roll starting it. does it turn over at all?

battery hasn't got enough charge to start the car?
you had your radio or whatever on when sanding?
