#160700 OK so i have been thru 2 sets of headers. Megan and and ebay header. both same style. so my question is how do i get the down pipe gasket to stop leaking.

things i have done.
replaced the gasket . and tightened the bolts back on. 2 weeks later it leaks. come to find out muffler shop stripped the nuts and used a diff nut on one of the bolts because they lost one i guess. that was the megan header.

now i got a new header. installed. it was all good then it leaked again. so i got another gasket and had it installed with sealant. this time i watched them tighten up the bolts i actually held the nuts so they wouldnt get lost. also had them install a flex pipe into the system. because there was no movement in exhaust and read that with out some type of flex exhausts and what not will start craqcking so something needs to take the vibration.

soooooooooooo the flex is installed with new gasket and sealant. 5 days ago. today i hear the damn thing leaking again. anyone have any ideas?.

my guess on this is i really dont want to spend 300 on a DC sports 1 piece header.. i do have upgraded mounts in the car 75a to be exact from Innovative mounts. i mean the whole car vibrates. due to the mounts. got them in there because i shall be buildint for turbo soon.

anyone have any idea what i should do next?. dont want to buy another header.
im really considering having the shop just weld the 2 pieces together and i think that will be the last straw..?

anyone??..

#160702 If you are going turbo i'd just live with it until then, because your gonna have to get a different ex. mani. anyway.

#160718 no i used the same type of gasket i brought in the kit. it's that silver type the looks like there is cement inside of tiny punctured holes.. the same gasket that is sent with the kits.

#160720 I welded mine did the same thing. When i was replacing my second gasket then a bolt broke in the down pipe section so welded it solid around three passes with stanless rod no leaks just have to remove header from bottom now on. :thumb:

#160792 I second the OEM gasket... one of the crappy foil ones with paper in the middle came with my manifold. I didn't even bother putting it on - went straight to the dealer and bought the layered steel OEM one and have not had a problem.

The ebay/china gaskets are junk.

#160996 I didn't realize it was that bad. I had my pipe break off my muffler and it sounded horrible. Yea id get the OEM gasket. I have taken mine off twice and put it back on with the same gasket, because I forgot to buy a new one, and I don't have a leak.
