hg issue

my buddy replaced his head gasket on his z6 last month and today found a small trace of coolant in it....only a hair tho...the tempurature doesnt overheat and it drive fine.

does he need anothe HG and could this be cause from him havig some oil on the HG when he installed the head back on? let me know so i can tell him. he is freakin lol

did he change the oil and have the coolant system flushed after changing his headgaskit?? also did he have the head and block resurfaced or at least checked?

he said that he had the head checked and they told him it was good to go. im not sure about the flushing liquids....i told him that since it was soo little amount it was probably just coolant that got in the oil during the HG swap and then he filled it up wit oil and went. so i dont think it a big deal but i wanted to check

yea i mean it could be left overs thats why i asked if he flushed it and changed the oil.

it absolutely could be caused by oil. The block and head surfaces need to be clean for a better seal, the HG needs to be clean as well.

But I would not tear it apart right away, keep a close eye on it and see if it gets worse. Like you said, it may be left over and not leaking.

ight ill tell him to keep an eye on it. and yea i wasnt about to help tear the head off that motor again unless i know its bad lol. thanks alot guys i really appreciate the help we share on this site :thumb:
