it seems like i go through three quarts every 2hr commute which is bout four days for me back and fourth from work. i've had it flushed, changed and cleaned pcv valve and some sensor firestone said was causing it but still burns oil. i've been told it's either valve seals or pistons but how can i be sure so i don't spend too much? it seems to burn when i accelerate fast on ramps and between the first two gears. auto trans 4 speed i'm thinkn with stock enging.

it could be valve seals or pistons like you said. I know replacing the pistons rings is not cheap or an easy task. The valve seals not sure about.... but thats a shit ton of oil to burn. Its got to look like spy hunter's smoke screen behind your car.

since its a d series id suggest just going to a junk yard or local craigslist find some kid whos swapping out their d series for a b series and pick it up for cheap or something i wouldnt pay more than 350-400 for a full z6 swap here dont know about where you live but yea i picked up a completely rebuilt d15b7 for 150 from a local who swaped in a z6 so yea lol just search around d series are plentiful and thankfully cheap

it is probably your piston rings only because my car has spy hunter syndrome too.... in the process of building another motor so i dont care i just keep a gallon of oil in the trunk and check it every day. Also when you are burning that much oil i usually take out my spark plugs and clen them off too because they are so oil soaked.
