#163658 stock? mods? clutch?

It makes a difference.. I always played with a d16 vetc EK EX in my d15 EG DX, both had CAI, his had a muffler, was about it at the time. He would take me both off the line and in the run. I installed a stage 1 clutch and 8lb flywheel, all of a sudden I took him everytime off the line. Obviously, once he hit vtec it would slide on ahead, but usually took him 2nd-3rd gear to get me depending on the street and his take off. He's a good driver off the line, so that's a minimal issue.

My suggestion, build the SOHC vtec.. oh, and start with the clutch so no little ol' d15 can embarrass you. lol.

#163663 Both look like Australian Engines. So i obvously have never used them being in the USA.

the D16y1 has more total hp, However 1ft lb less torque. Then engines will be close, It would come down to other factors. I.E. What Transmissions are being used, what mods are done, what cars they are in, you said they are both in eg's. However is one in a coupe? sedan? hatch? one in a light hatch will be quicker then one in a heavier coupe or a sedan. and ofcorse the biggest factor, the Driver.

It would be a good race bewteen the two, however given if both engines are in the same car and the same mods done, my money would be on the sohc vtec.

heck yea sohc engines are awesome they are under appreciated to be honest but yea

vti and the si depends if your looking at a shell with the interior your looking at a few things.

weight...
options are a bit different i think the si is more equipped which means a bit heavier....

ummm so yea shell wise you got options weight
there may be suspension differences as in stiffer or sporty im not sure about that and also you may be looking at abs to non abs depending on teh years
