dose the knock sound like its comming from the block or possibly the head??

if its from teh block then probaly rod bearing with play in it or something internally thats not good....

head wise could be valve adjustment.

either way i wouldnt go high rpm until you find out or fix it

The guy said it was knocking and got louder when he drove. It was running when pulled and they did try to adjust the valves or something like that but it kept doin it so it is probably the bottom end then :? .... He only wants 100 bucks for it what should i do

if the valve cover says vtec-e and has small intake pipes, if the valve cover says vtec and has bigger intake pipes then its a VTEC version similar to the d16z6

Image

If the intake manifold looks like the above, Its VTEC, if they are a good deal smaller, you probally have the VTEC-E Version.

The casting on the front of the head above where the exhaust is, will have PO8 for VTEC and P07 for VTEC-E.

I figured it out it is the d16a6 block stamped d15b headstamp pm 3-4 with a block off plate where the vtec solenoid would go if it was vtec. :thumb:

Least I found a good bottom end to start my build and some spare parts to make some build money :D
