whats the best oem cam for sohc?

a d16a6 cam is real good for N/A or a jdm d15b both are very hard to come by without buying the whole motor
if your looking for something comon you could get a d16z6 czm or d16y8 for under a hundred bucks

If your using a non-vtec set up. The D16a6 cam would be the best OEM cam to get.

If you are VTEC, The JDM d15b VTEC(basically a 1.5l version of d16z6) has a slightly more aggressive cam then a d16z6.

However if your going to install a new cam and have to deal with timing it, you might as well put in an aftermarket cam.

If you put in a different cam, OEM or Aftermarket you should have your car retuned. The ECU you have now is tuned for the cam in your engine, when you put in a new cam, you need to retune your ecu or you could easily ruin your engine.

Which is why if your going through all of the work to install a new cam, redoing your timing, and then getting it retuned, You might as well get an aftermarket cam that makes your time, effort and money you put into this worth the effort.

If your looking for aftermarket cams Bisimoto makes amazing N/A Cams for D Series.

thank u sir, but if i plan on going boost what cam would be best? also wanna know if i should change the water pump nd/or oil pump

if you go turbo crower makes a good stage 2 cam or zex but honestly the stock cams can handle alot and perform pretty well with turbos
as for the water pump i wouldnt do it unless you need to change your timing belt but if you are taking ur motor out of your car to build it for turbo or n/a i would do it
itscway easier to do when the motors out anyways

on a Dseries i say grab a stock cam before you go boost because aftermarkets cost $250++ then another $100++ for springs if you wanna get the full potential that u jus paid over $250 for.. you can always just up the boost to get more hp for alot cheaper IMO. thats if money is an issue or considered.. if its not then every little bit helps

well money and time is not an issue, i have a integra with a b20 nd ls tranny as my DD, i came across a deadstock eg coupe with a blown motor for 300, it has a brand new battery nd new tires,even came with an alarm, so i want to take my time and build a single cam for boost, getting my income tax next week so i wanna start buying parts for the motor
