After lurking around here for what would seem like days, i finally got myself an account, and am ready to become a permanent member. But this thread isn't about placing me into this world, but instead of a more simple question.
I got my car nearly 6 months ago, after long aspirations to get the '92 civic hatch. Found one for pretty cheap, picked it off a girl, i asked her about the upgrades done; she claims not to have done anything but maintenance, and the rest of the work is from the previous owner.
I investigate.
Long story, just a bit shorter. The D15B7 i expected to find under the hood is actually a D15B (non vtec). After driving around a bit, i also find that the coolant looks funky, with a film of oil like substance. So i figure i need a new head gasket. I found the thread that instructs how to, so all is well.
Only part i stutter with is which headgasket to use?
I have been told a D16Z6 would fit, but a D16Y8 is a better fit. (when talking about the D15B VTEC)
I would assume that the difference between VTEC and non VTEC gasket should be nearly non-existant.
First time im taking on a somewhat serious project.
Any last minute advice?

"It wouldn't need the displacement if it wasn't so pig heavy."
