#178913 okay so yesterday i was at the wreckers and was looking at some acuras.

i checked out the block number on a early 90's integra and it sasid it was a D16?

i thought the D16 was a SOHC?
does this mean the head will fit on a D16 block from anything?

i didnt think this was right? someone please clear this up?
although i wouldnt mind doing a Big-Me swap to a DOHC on a SOHC head :P

#178915 D16A1. Found in: 1986-89 US Acura Integra this engine is the us = to the jdm DOHC ZC... the D16A1 was less compression and less cam than the zc but all the parts will interchange between the two (timing belt, water pump, distributor ect.)... not 100% sure about putting an D16A1 or DOHC ZC head onto a regular sohc block... d15b7 d16a6 d16y7 or d15b2 ect... i have heard of it being done... but have NEVER seen one in person... but the D16A1's are supposed to run strong... this is an obd0 engine so im not sure what dist. you would use in an 92-95 app. as it isnt like anything i have seen before, to make something else fit... not sure is the ZC was used as obd1 in japan... but yes it was right its a DOHC D16 :hehe:

#178917 yea its based off of a D series... thats where im not sure if the DOHC and SOHC zc blocks are the same... i actually have a SOHC zc with a d16z6 head on it that im about to put into my dd... but i know for a fact that any sohc trans will bolt to a zc engine... and you can use sohc axles... and the zc trans will bolt to any SOHC but the zc engine uses a half shaft like a B engine. so im not sure exaclty witch axles to use with the zc trans (in thinking the reg. 92-95 axles will work and you just bypass the half shaft, but i am not sure :? )... but all DOHC zc trans are cable... But the zc is supposed to have heavier (stronger) rods than your run of the mill SOHC, and they say the D16A1 has the same rods as a zc so that could be a potential cheap rod upgrade :thumb: as that is a common SOHC weakpoint...

#178950 http://fourthgenhatch.net/zc.html

^ good info here

But yea the first gen tegra motors wont bolt into the 88+ civic/crx's they will mount up with some work in the 1st gen crx and that year civic as well.....

Thought i saw a bit back someone who put a dohc zc head on a z6 and it was a how to but yea it was alot of machine work and to me not worth it....I will be doing a D16a9 swap in my buddies ef shortly after i get dont with some other swaps i have scheduled but yea they are decent motors and they love boost lol if my B series dosent work out im going to see how the dohc zc works in my friends ef hatch and if i like it then i might go that route.....and just to forwarn you the dizzys are pretty much one off dohc zc only

And there are performance things out there specialty groups such as zc speed make an adapter plate to allow you to bolt up different intakes etc...

We have the CRX with the DOHC D16, with around 130 hp.

Its a lot of fun in a stripped civic, especially when its a track bitch!
