Really really weird overheating problem....

This is weird and something I've been trying to solve for awhile now. My 93 eg will overheat in stop and go traffic if the heat is not on. So basically, when I'm in traffic my heat has to be on or I will overheat. I've already changed the head gasket, but nothing. I'm wanting to get this fixed by summer!

Thanks guys!

Nope no leaks at all. I'll check my coolant first thing tomorrow morning. It's just weird that it doesn't overheat while the heat is on.

Air bubble in the coolant system. :? It'd be a nice easy fix. :thumb:

yeah also try your fan out see if its kicking on at the right time
iff all else fails just hook it up to a toggle switch if the sensor is bad

Your radiator fan isn't coming on.

+1 on the radiator fan.
if the temperature rises in stop and go traffic, you just aren't getting any air to your radiator.
Either the sensor for that is gone (about 25$ and 5 minutes to replace)
OR
the fan itself is gone.
try running the car for awhile to see if the fan will turn on (once it passes half way on the dash heat indicator)
if fan does not turn on: sensor is not working or fan itself is broken.
gooooood luck.
